When Joo Virgnia joined Sporting on loan at the start of the campaign, all signs pointed to him continuing with the Lions after the loan period.
The player arrived in Lisbon on a one-year agreement with a €3.5 million option for a permanent deal, and with the club prepared to include him in cup games, his playing time did not appear to be an issue.
However, according to the Record, Virgnia could leave Sporting in the summer and return to Everton in search of game time.
He has only made seven outings for the team so far this season, and he is unlikely to get many more. And he feels he needs to play more at this point in his career.
According to the record, Virgnia’s relationship with Sporting is good because he’s adjusted well to the club and the Lions appreciate the work he’s done there.
The issue is that Antonio Adan is their first choice, and they will not modify it for the sake of it.
In the event of a return to Everton, Virgnia’s contract with the Toffees continues until 2024, which means he will most likely be loaned out again, or just sold, in the summer.
