Frank Lampard has a tough task to propel Everton to their good old days and, as seen from his summer signings so far, the Chelsea legend wants that task done sooner rather than later.

Everton will definitely want to completely erase a disastrous 2021–2022 season from their minds by doing much better this season, but their first hurdle isn’t so easy to jump over.

The Toffees host fellow Blues, Chelsea, in their 2022/2023 EPL opener at Goodison Park this Saturday (August 6th, 2022), heading into the game without their newly lost striker Richarlison and now second striker, Rondon.

Everton’s Rondon served two games ( against Palace and Arsenal) of the 3-match ban he got for foul play during Everton’s clash with Brentford in May, so Saturday’s will be the final.

Everton beat Palace and then got thrashed by Arsenal during Rondon’s absence, so it’s not clear whether Lampard’s side will be greatly affected by his absence this Saturday.

Both sides have brilliant new signings that they could try out in the game, but missing a forward as experienced as the Venezuelan in a match against a Chelsea side with game-changing Sterling will definitely hit Everton hard.

Frank’s side is enthusiastic and determined to escape the precarious position they found themselves in last year, though.

That, coupled with his new signings who look to prove themselves to the Goodison Park faithful, might just give Chelsea their first upset this season, even without Rondon.
