The Toffees remain unbeaten in the last four matches in the Premier League, winning three matches and drawing in one.

Everton have continued to perform well under Rafael Benitez despite doubts from the fans when he took over as the manager.

According to Football Insider, Benitez has come to the conclusion that Everton’s four centre-backs are not able to produce a strong partnership.

According to the report, there is no ‘natural pairing’ among Mason Holgate, Yeri Mina, Ben Godfrey and Michael Kean.

Benitez’s intention is to sign a “world-class” centre-back in the January transfer window to strengthen the club’s defence.

Everton’s recruitment chief, Marcel Brands, has been informed of the Spaniard’s intention. It has been reported that the recruitment team is working towards getting a capable centre-back who exhibits leadership qualities.

Samuel Umtiti and West Ham’s new signing, Kurt Zouma, were linked with a move to Everton in the summer transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin is still out due to injury and, therefore, he may not be ready to play until next month.

“It’s what I said after the game,” Benitez said. “We have to wait some weeks, we don’t know exactly how many but he will not be available for two or three weeks.”

James Rodriguez, on the other hand, has not featured for the Toffees since the arrival of the new manager.

“He’s training,” Benitez said. “These kind of weeks when you play a game and you have a day off in between, it’s not easy to see much from the first training session and we will see tomorrow in another training session. He’s training normally with the team.”
