Georginio Wijnaldum, who is supposedly wanted by Everton, has apparently been placed on PSG’s transfer list due to the French club’s desire to offload the former Liverpool ace following the hiring of new manager Christophe Galtier.
Le Parisien reports that PSG wants to offload 11 players this summer, including the Dutch international. Wijnaldum only joined the Ligue 1 giants last year after leaving Liverpool, where the midfielder has struggled greatly with performance and fitness.
It makes sense why the European heavyweights want to transfer Wijnaldum, with Everton apparently showing interest in the midfielder. Galtier made it his goal this summer to make PSG a cohesive team without being propelled by superstar personalities.
According to reports, Wijnaldum is being pursued by a small number of Premier League clubs, including the Toffees, West Ham, and Wolves. The 31-year-old could be open to returning to the Premier League this summer.
Given how much PSG wants to sell the midfielder and his contributions to Liverpool’s victories in the 2019 UEFA Champions League and the 2020 Premier League championship, a return to England would be a logical next step for Wijnaldum. However, a move to Everton would be too optimistic.
Even though there is still more than a month before the transfer market closes, Everton’s chances of having a good season remain extremely slim. Wijnaldum would prefer it if PSG sold him to a team where he would be a star player and compete for awards.
