Scuderia Ferrari launched staged on of the greatest car launches ever for their SF-23 livery that will run for the 2023 season.
The racing giant invited fans over to Fiorano where Charles LeClerc completed first laps on track amid cheers from the crowd.
The livery features the usual red colour with splashes of black that the Tifossi identify with different sponsor names embedded on the front wing and side pods.
However, fans noted that the front wing features slot gap separators that FIA banned last season on Mercedes during the us grand prix in Austin.
This front wing will however be accepted and is legal after FIA updated their regulations. Article 3.9.8 of f1’s technical regulations limited the scope of such brackets in delivery of auto boost.
The FIA removed the key statement that such strakes could ‘primarily’ for mechanical, structural or measurement reasons.
Mercedes at the time argued that aero boost wasn’t the primary reason and rather was a consequence of improving the structural outlook of the car but later on abandoned the wing upgrade.
However, Ferrari will run with this upgrade as the regulations state that as long as the slot gap separators provide a “structural connection” between consecutive wings then they are fully legal.
