Manager David McCallum of the Rangers B Team has provided an update regarding Zak Lovelace, who is presently sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
The 17-year-old is not anticipated to make a comeback before January, as he suffered a significant injury in October during the match against St Mirren.
Additionally, defender Jack Harkness from the B Team is unlikely to return before the new year, compounding the injury concerns for McCallum's team.
He said, “Zak Lovelace and Jack Harkness are out due to injury and it will look like they will hopefully return around January time but we work closely with them to get them back.”
At 17 years old, Lovelace is an exceptionally promising talent who has already featured in first-team games for Rangers.
Players of his caliber naturally attract the attention of fans within the academy, and if he continues progressing as he has in recent months, he could secure a regular spot in the first team within a few seasons.
Rangers are cognizant that if Lovelace maintains his improvement, Premier League teams might express interest in signing him. This scenario is common with many young talents, and it falls on the club to negotiate a suitable fee for his transfer.
Ideally, the club should secure him to a four or five-year contract now, ensuring his future with the team, considering potential future interest from other clubs.
Currently, fans are hopeful for his swift return, as Philippe Clement could be the ideal manager to elevate Lovelace's game to the next level.
