After EPL side Newcastle United successfully changed owners, current coach Steve Bruce might be replaced owing to the poor performance his side have shown this season. Newcastle are currently 19th in the domestic league, a position that, if maintained, could see them relegated.

With new owners, The Saudi Arabian Investment Fund, taking over, there is speculation the club’s management could change, and some have gone as far as tipping who is likely to take over as manager.

Among those tipped is former Liverpool midfielder and current Scottish side Rangers’ head coach, Steven Gerrard. Following his successful tenure at Rangers, Gerrard has attracted attention from various clubs, and struggling Newcastle could follow suit.

A number of bookmakers have placed Gerrard as one of the favourites to redeem Newcastle United should new owners decide to discontinue Bruce. Among them, Betfair placed him second behind Eddie Howe, while Sky Bet and Bet Victor placed him first.

Despite these speculations, the club has reportedly not made any decisions regarding the future of their coach and players even though they (Newcastle) understand the precarious position they’re in.

“We’re obviously painfully aware of the relegation issue….But all decisions about players and managers are for another day, “Amanda Staveley revealed to Sky Sports. She added that they are very supportive of their current coach and will do a review first before deciding what to do.

On his side, Bruce is reluctant to leave but said he’ll go with the new owner’s decision as they might want another person to kick off with. “I want to continue…but you have to be realistic and they may well want a new manager…,” Bruce told The Telegraph.

So, no matter how in favour of Gerrard the odds are, the final decision will still depend on a thorough review.
