Rangers are expected to make six changes to their starting squad for their Scottish League Cup match against Dunfermline, according to Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard indicated to the media on Thursday, prior of the match, that he will choose a “strong squad” to face the Pars.
After the dismal performance against Malmo, James Tavernier, Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo, and Scott Wright could all be omitted, with Nathan Patterson, Filip Helander, Calvin Bassey, Glen Kamara, John Lundstram, and Ianis Hagi returning to the starting XI.
Behind a back-four of 19-year-old Patterson, Connor Goldson, Helander, and Bassey, Allan McGregor is expected to start in goal.
Patterson is yet to feature for Rangers this season, but with Tavernier’s play causing fans concern, the club captain might be dropped to make room for the promising young right-back.
Steven Davis might keep his starting role in midfield, with Kamara and summer addition Lundstram joining him, while Hagi could play on the right wing alongside Ryan Kent.
Alfredo Morelos is expected to start up front after scoring in the loss to Malmo.
Fashion Sakala will not be available, putting El Bufalo in a stronger position to lead Gerrard’s attack.
