After a disappointing game against West Ham before the international break that saw Liverpool drop to fourth on the table, Klopp’s side will be looking for nothing less than a win if they have to avoid a similar situation of being replaced.
The Reds needed to be in perfect condition to face an Arsenal side that’s on an undefeated streak, but that was feared to not be the case as some of Klopp’s best players had injury concerns from their recent international duties.
Captain Jordan Henderson was injured playing against Albania. Sadio Mane bruised his ribs, while fellow winger-striker Divock Origi sustained a dead leg. Andrew Robertson, once termed by Alex Ferguson as “unbelievable” went off early due to sore muscles and was also feared unfit to face the gunners.
It is a relief for Liverpool fans and the coach though, as most of these cases are less serious than they looked, meaning the players can appear against Arteta’s side in tomorrow’s EPL temporary third-place deciding match at Anfield.
“Robbo was lucky…he went off early…and so there’s a good chance that he can be involved at the weekend,” Klopp said about Robertson. Regarding the captain whose situation the coach said was a little bit more serious, he (Klopp) said there was “a chance for this weekend.”
Concerning Mane, the Senegalese player who trained with the team this week and is said to be fit to play despite some pain.Sadio is fine-painful but fine,” the Rd’s manager assured. Others will come back when they are found fit to play, but the situation is clearly not as dire as it seemed.
It is to be seen whether the Reds’ side, with their possible injury returns, can hold off Arteta’s men and maintain at least third place.
