According to transfer specialist Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, Leeds are considering a shocking move to sign Raphael Guerreiro of Borussia Dortmund, who has also been linked to a low-cost move to Manchester City.
This summer, Guerreiro, 28, began the last year of his Dortmund contract. He’s been with the German team for six years and has made 191 appearances across all leagues. He has contributed to an astounding 71 goals.
However, it’s obvious that the 56-time Portugal international is eager to leave Dortmund. Guerreiro is also being considered by Manchester City, according to prior reports from Sky Sports. Because of his contract, he might be inexpensively accessible.
Jones now claims to have heard Guerreiro’s name discussed as Leeds continues to look for a potential left-back acquisition. It is uncertain whether Leeds would be able to lure a player of Guerreiro’s caliber.
“Guerreiro’s a name I’ve heard mentioned. There are a few that they’re looking at. It might be that they end up doing a loan or something from one of Europe’s bigger clubs once they know that there are people that don’t fit into plans.”
Guerreiro would be a great addition to Leeds. He does not match their recent strategy of signing seasoned players between the ages of 20 and 25. for instance, Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra.
Guerreiro, though, is the type of player who would disregard that transfer philosophy for a single acquisition. Leeds do need a left-back, amid worries over Junior Firpo’s fitness — and his present injury. Stuart Dallas will be out for a while longer.
