According to The Athletic, Leeds United centre back Diego Llorente did miss the 6-0 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night due to a hamstring injury.

Llorente was substituted at half-time in Sunday’s loss to Man Utd, and Marcelo Bielsa – or anyone else – has mentioned nothing about the Spanish defender’s injury.

The 28-year-old, though, has joined Patrick Bamford, Liam Cooper, and Kalvin Phillips on the sidelines at Elland Road, having “picked up a hamstring issue,” according to The Athletic.

It’s unclear whether the former Real Sociedad player will be available for Saturday’s match against Spurs at Elland Road.

Cooper and Phillips have already been sidelined due to hamstring ailments, and Bamford had hamstring troubles earlier this season.

Since signing for Leeds from Real Sociedad at the beginning of last season, Llorente hasn’t been in the best of shape.

Since arriving from Spain, he has made 36 outings in all competitions and has already missed seven Premier League games this season.

Llorente is susceptible to injury, but you can guarantee Marcelo Bielsa makes him work as hard as some of his team’s more resilient players, such as Jack Harrison and Mateusz Klich, every day.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Bielsa lacks the players and resources to play the type of game he wants them to play.

He wants players who aren’t susceptible to injury, and unless that improves, he’ll need additional players who can provide substantial depth.

Bielsa cannot be blamed exclusively for the injury problems, but he does play a part in them.
