Leeds now ready to sell their player Chelsea want to sign

Leeds United are prepared to let Illan Meslier go in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The report says that the French goalkeeper is one of the players Leeds “anticipate to offload in this window”.

The Yorkshire club will compete in the second tier next season after suffering relegation from the top flight.

The Athletic claims that “Leeds think that a fresh start might benefit Meslier after two difficult seasons playing behind their porous defence”.

The Times reported last month that Chelsea have an eye on Meslier and have tracked the 23-year-old.

The goalkeeper himself admitted last month that he could quit Leeds and join Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea may have a chance to land Illan Meslier from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds being ready to part ways with the goalkeeper will tempt the Chelsea hierarchy.

At least the former Premier League and Champions League champions would be able to get Leeds to talk.

Chelsea have already parted company with Edouard Mendy in the summer transfer window, so Kepa Arrizabalaga is now the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for the Blues.

Marcus Bettinelli and Gabriel Slonina are the other two alternatives in goal for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Kepa has been prone to errors, so Meslier could hope to go to Chelsea and take over the Spaniard in the line-up.

Meslier has featured in 107 Premier League games so far in his career.

The 23-year-old French goalkeeper has recorded 21 shutouts in those matches.
