Elia Caprile has told Italian publication Numero Diez that he aspires to play for Napoli at some time in his career. He aspires to play football in Serie A and the Champions League one day.
Caprile, 20, is currently on loan with Pro Patria, a third-tier Italian club, where he has made 37 outings in all competitions this season. For the 12th-placed club, he has 12 clean sheets and 44 goals conceded in that period.
Caprile was a key member of the club’s Under-23 team last season, making 19 appearances for the second string. He also came off the bench five times in the Premier League. He was sometimes chosen over Kiko Casilla.
He is set to return this summer after his contract at Elland Road expires in 2024. Caprile has stated that he will hold negotiations with Leeds this summer, as well as his desire to play for Napoli in the Champions League.
“Leeds were the first to tell me ‘go on loan, play your 30/40 games and then let’s talk again’,” Caprile said. “I have a dream and a hope. The hope, which is also my goal, is to be in Serie A.
“Obviously, I think all children want to reach Serie A and maybe even the Champions League. As for the dream, in 10 years, I would like to be the Napoli goalkeeper. Why? My father is from Naples, and I support Napoli.”
