According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are currently preparing the formal confirmation of the signing of talented striker Sonny Perkins.
According to the renowned journalist, the young attacker will join Darko Gyabi as the second teenager to join the club this summer.
Perkins became available after more than ten years with West Ham, and Leeds are now anticipated to pay a minor compensation price for the transfer.
The Whites are nice and ready to reveal this one, Romano wrote in his most recent Guardian article on Sunday night [17 July].
“Leeds are preparing to announce the signing of Sonny Perkins after the attacking midfielder left West Ham at the end of his contract,” he wrote.
“The 18-year-old, who can also play as a striker, made three appearances for West Ham last season and scored 12 goals at under-23 level but was unable to agree a new deal. He is poised to become the second teenager signed by Leeds this summer after Darko Gyabi, who cost £5m from Manchester City.”
Given that Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood have already committed to the first team, it makes perfect sense to bring in another attacker in the form of under-23 signing Perkins.
Gyabi travelled to Australia with the rest of the team, but given other arrivals, he will team up with Perkins in a brand-new academy team that will be aiming to return to Division One of the Premier League 2 as quickly as possible.
