According to The Mirror, Manchester United consider Leeds United’s Kalvin Philips an affordable option in the summer transfer window.
According to a report in the newspaper’s print edition [14 April, page 54], there are four positions in midfield that United are looking to bolster this summer.
If Phillips is an affordable transfer target for Man United, they must have a lot of cash to spend this summer.
The Telegraph reported on April 3 that Aston Villa were willing to pay £60 million in the summer transfer window for the England international.
There is no doubt that if that’s the case, Leeds will easily value Phillips higher than that for Aston Villa and will certainly push the price up even further for their rivals, Manchester United.
According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, it would be difficult for Manchester United to get Phillips out of Elland Road because of his lifelong support for the Whites.
Leeds United’s most valuable player is unquestionably Phillips, and the club will only consider selling to him for the most expensive price possible.
It’s possible that Raphinha will be released, but it’s hard to see why Andrea Radrizzani would allow the Brazilian international and Phillips to be released.
Leeds must improve each season if they are to succeed. It would be a huge mistake to sell both of the team’s top players at once.
