The Foxes are one of the clubs keen on signing Italian sensation Domenico Berardi this summer.
The winger has made an impression for the Italian national team at Euro 2020, helping them reach the quarter-finals.
Leicester is one of several clubs said to be interested in the 26-year-old, who now plays for Sassuolo in Serie A.
They are expected to be on the hunt for a winger this summer, since Harvey Barnes and Marc Albrighton are the team’s only natural wingers, but full-back Ricardo Pereira can also play further forward.
Sassuolo wants €40 million (£34.3 million) for the player this summer, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, which would be close to Leicester’s transfer record.
However, according to the report, if Leicester wants to finalize a transfer, they will have to beat off interest from other clubs.
Lazio is the latest club to be linked with a move for the winger, but it is expected that the Italian club would have to sell players to generate the necessary finances.
Giovanni Carnevali, the CEO of Sassuolo, spoke about the winger’s future last week, giving City chances of signing Berardi.
“I cannot promise that Berardi will stay. It is not a question of money,” he said.
Last season, Berardi excelled in Serie A, netting 17 goals and providing eight assists.
