According to reports, Klopps’s side has begun talks to make Salah the club’s highest-paid player with a new four-year contract.

The Egyptian winger, who is largely considered as one of Jurgen Klopp’s most vital players, is now on a £200,000-per-week deal that extends through the summer of 2023.

After re-signing Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, and Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards is currently on a contract extension spree.

The Athletic reported that Liverpool want to renew Salah’s contract for another two years, until 2025, in a deal that would be a Merseyside club record.

Salah’s contract would be extended until he is 33 years old, bringing his Anfield tenure to a close after eight years. Virgil van Dijk, a Dutch defender, is the Reds’ highest-paid player, reportedly earning £220,000 per week.

Since joining the Reds from Roma in 2017, the Egyptian has recorded 126 goals and 49 assists in 204 appearances.

Salah made an instant impression at Liverpool, netting 44 goals in his first campaign and finishing second in the Premier League Golden Boot race last season with 22 goals, one behind champ Harry Kane.

After worries about his future, club captain Jordan Henderson is reportedly considering a new three-year contract, while Salah’s striking partner Sadio Mane also wants to commit to another deal at Anfield.
