The Red Devils are said to have offered Paul Pogba a new deal worth £500,000 per week in order to prevent him from departing on a free transfer in the summer.
Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford expires on July 1, and his fate has been a hot topic of discussion this season.
The French international is now free to talk to other clubs about a summer move after entering the last six months of his contract.
His Previous club Juventus, as well as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, have all been connected with him.
United is reportedly preparing to offer him a new deal for £400,000 per week before add-ons to entice him to devote his future to the team, according to The Sun.
United are said to be convinced that the offer is worth roughly £100,000 more than Pogba might make elsewhere in Europe if he decides to go on a free transfer in July.
According to the source, Pogba has still to decide whether or not to sign the new contract, which would make him the highest-paid player in Premier League history.
Paul Pogba has been out since November due to a thigh injury he sustained while on international duty with France.
Ralf Rangnick, United’s interim manager, stated in December that he would not try to sway Pogba’s choice since he only wants to work with dedicated players.
“I wouldn’t say he is not worth keeping but players need to want to stay and play for the club,” said Rangnick.
“If a player doesn’t want to play for a club like Manchester United, even in the long term, I don’t think it makes sense to convince him to change his mind.
“This is such a massive club, with fantastic support, I don’t think anyone at the club should try to convince a player to stay.”
