Man United vs Liverpool: preview, team news and prediction

Manchester United will be hoping to build on the dramatic 3-2 win against Atalanta as they prepare to face arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

United’s long unbeaten run away from home came to an end last weekend, after the match at the King Power stadium took a climatic turn in the latter stages.

The red devils have not been in good form lately, managing just 3 wins in their previous 8 matches played.

Ole Gunnar’s side will clearly have to do the most as they welcome an unbeaten Liverpool side to Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford and Fred had to be withdrawn in the second half against Atalanta after going down, and Ole revealed that Rashford suffered a dead leg.

Ole has also revealed that Bruno Fernandes will be a doubt for the fixture.

“Games like Wednesday will always bring knocks and bruises. We have two or three with knocks but I hope I can pick from a fit squad. Bruno might be a doubt but he’s doing everything he can to be fit.”

Raphael Varane is still out with a groin injury.

The return of Anthony Martial may perhaps give them some boost ahead of the clash. The French man was back in training on Thursday after missing out for some time due to a minor injury picked up while representing France.

Their Merseyside rivals will also enjoy a boost in squad options, with the return of Curtis Jones who missed the last two outings following a minor injury during international duty.

The match however comes too soon for Thiago who will continue to be sidelined following the calf strain he suffered in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace last month.

Harvey Eliott also remains absent and it is unclear if he will be back soon after the horrific injury he suffered against Leeds.

Speaking in a press conference Klopp had this to say.

“The squad is alright. We have to see, that’s how it is. We are only two days after the [Atletico Madrid] game and we have to make sure that we all get fit again, but they are the typical things. I couldn’t tell you now who is 100 per cent available and who is not.
