Manchester United have been accused of disorderly conduct by the Football Association (FA) after a mass confrontation took place during their game against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Manchester United won the game 2-1, thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, but were down to 10 men after Casemiro received a red card for putting his hands around the throat of Palace midfielder Will Hughes.

Casemiro has been suspended for three matches as a result of the red card, starting with the 2-2 draw against Leeds United.

At the end of the game, both teams were involved in a clash after a challenge on Manchester United winger Antony. Although Jordan Ayew appeared to have pushed Fred, he remained on the field.

Both teams have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players and prevent provocative behavior.

The FA statement read: “Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have been charged following a mass confrontation between their players in the 67th minute of the Premier League fixture on Saturday 4 February 2013.

“It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour, and it’s also alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players refrained from violent behaviour.

“Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have until Monday 13 February 2023 to respond.”

Casemiro will be unable to play in the upcoming match against Leeds, as well as the subsequent encounter with Leicester City, due to a suspension.
