Two English third-tier clubs have expressed interest in Rangers forward Kemar Roofe this summer.

Roofe has been linked to a return to English football this summer, and both Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County have expressed interest.

However, the Daily Record reports that neither the Owls nor the Rams have made a formal approach for the 29-year-old.

The former Leeds United striker had a difficult season last year due to a number of ailments, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst is not said to want the striker to leave Ibrox this year.

Pete O’Rourke thinks the Dutch coach will be more interested in bringing in new players this summer than letting players leave.

He said: “Roofe obviously had a few injury problems of his own last season.

“I’m sure he’s had a good time up in Scotland as well, but the chance to move to England is obviously there.

“There is interest from the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Derby, so maybe he wants to move back down south as well.

“If that’s the case, maybe Rangers would be willing to let him leave, but I think ideally, Van Bronckhorst will be looking to keep hold of that squad and maybe add to it rather than take away from it, really.
