Ally McCoist has denied that the club he supports is under more pressure heading into Sunday’s semi-final at Hampden.
The Scottish Cup semifinal matchup between Celtic and Glasgow rivals Rangers is set to take place this weekend.
Gio’s men remain in Europe, but the Scottish Cup has taken on greater importance as Celtic sit top of the table. At a Premier Sports pre-match event on Monday, Kenny Dalglish made the point.
McCoist isn’t having it and thinks the Old Firm-obsessed club is under no additional pressure.
“I was at the last league game at Ibrox when Celtic won 2-1,” McCoist said on talkSPORT as cited by RecordSport.
“Celtic defended really, really well to be honest with you and probably looked more dangerous.
” Rangers have got everything to play for – and so have Celtic!
“I love the fact we say there’s more pressure on Rangers, these games are unbelievable, they really are.
“I can let Kenny off, because he’s the best, because he’s Kenny!”
Ally would see that Ibrox is under more pressure if he were to look at things objectively. Celtic won the League Cup in December, while a six-point lead they had held since January was relinquished in the derby defeats.
However, Ally is spewing nonsense about how the games will take care of themselves.
It was unthinkable at the start of the season that Celtic would still be chasing a treble going into this game. What a great matchup it is going to be.
