West Ham head coach David Moyes revealed that he has really been impressed by summer signing Nikola Vlasic during the team’s training sessions.
The Croatian International has a major role to play in David Moyes’ side this season, both domestically and in the UEFA Europa League. He will probably start his first game for The Hammers tonight away at Dinamo Zagreb in their opener of the tournament.
Moyes spoke to reporters last night ahead of the Europa League opener in a pre-match press conference and had lots of praises for Vlasic:
“We’ve been really impressed by Niko, his attitude as a professional, is first class we’ve been really impressed. We like him, we watched him a lot there, when he was in Spartak and then we watched the Euros as well and we see a young player still developing, who’s already got a lot of experience, and caps for Croatia. We know he can play 10, 11. He can do several roles for us which is important and will be important through the season.”
The 23-year-old joined the club on deadline day from CSKA Moscow for a figure close to £31 million, landing him a five-year deal consisting of a £70,000 a week wage.
Vlasic made his debut on Saturday, coming in from the bench against Southampton and gave all the signs of a promising prospect in the half hour that he was on the pitch.
Both manager and fans will be hopefully that he produces results tonight and it seems that Moyes believes the former Everton man is more than ready to make an impact for his new club, judging by the many praises.
