Ben Jacobs spoke about Youri Tielemans’ position this summer on The Done Deal Show.

The Belgian was expected to leave Leicester City this summer, according to reports from months ago, but here we are on the first day of the Premier League campaign and he’s still with the Foxes.

Jacobs believes that Tielemans’ transfer is still a possibility and that a last-minute offer from Newcastle United is likely.

In an interesting statement, Jacobs claims that Arsenal genuinely have control over the situation and will get the player if they make a bid for him.

“Tielemans they accept that if a fair offer comes in they will sell him because of the player’s contract situation and they know that he ideally doesn’t want to sign a new deal.”

“Tielemans wants his future resolved ASAP, still no bids at the moment, but a few clubs have tried to work out the financials. Arsenal haven’t moved yet, but it’s still very possible,” Jacobs said.

“There’s no urgency for these clubs to move because until one bids the other interested clubs don’t have to consider it. It’s in Arsenal’s control, if Arsenal bid and agree a fee Tielemans will join Arsenal regardless of what any other club do.

“If Arsenal don’t bid it’s more of an open race and that’s where Manchester United could come in as a De Jong backup or even a late bid from Newcastle could be something we see.”
