Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has hinted at his uncertain future at the Magpies with a cryptic social media post.

Hayden was not included in Newcastle’s 25-man squad earlier in January after undergoing knee surgery late last year. His future at St James Park is not yet decided.

The 27-year-old is, however, still contracted to the club, but his tweet on Monday night after Eddie Howe’s men beat Arsenal 2-0 sparked debate about his stay at Newcastle United.

“What a football club, the future is bright and will be a pleasure to watch it in whatever capacity that is,” he replied to the club’s post.

Hayden moved to Newcastle in the summer of 2016 in the wake of the side’s relegation to the Championship. The midfielder last played for the team on December 19 last year.

Eddie Howe had earlier predicted possible departures from Newcastle United, especially players who have for a long time not featured under his reign.

Howe will actually be looking for ways to reinforce his squad ahead of the 2022/2023 English Premier League season after saving the side from relegation this summer.

“I’d say there are players here who, potentially, have not maybe featured too much under me so far who could stay, and vice-versa,” he shared.

It is expected that Newcastle United will flex their financial muscles in the transfer window with the backing of their new wealthy owners.
