Elliot Anderson seems to have worked his way into Eddie Howe’s plans for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

According to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, Eddie Howe is thought to have opted in the ‘final few days’ to keep the 19-year-old on Tyneside.

Many Championship and Scottish clubs have expressed strong interest in him, and many thought he would be loaned away, but after a strong summer with our senior squad, it appears they will be disappointed.

Howe appreciates that he can operate as a “No. 8” in a midfield three or out wide, and it appears that our inability to sign a new winger had a role in this choice.

To emphasise how much he’s impressed over the previous few weeks, Edwards maintains that he WILL stay on Tyneside ahead of the forthcoming season, even if a few new attackers arrive.

Staff members have labelled Anderson the biggest Academy talent we’ve produced in “over a decade,” and he began last night’s 3-2 loss to Benfica.
