Renowned CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has spoken about Gareth Bale’s potential move to English Premier League side Newcastle United on The Done Deal Show lately.
Bale has just left Real Madrid after winning the LaLiga title and the UEFA Champions League crown with the Galacticos in the recently concluded season.
He is rumoured to be on his way to either Cardiff City or Getafe. However, according to Jacobs, the reported link between the former Tottenham Hotspur forward and the Magpies has come directly from the club chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
“Gareth Bale has been vaguely linked to Newcastle, but there have been 100 other clubs, I remember engaging with Newcastle fans on this in January, and a lot of them didn’t want him. The link between Bale and Newcastle comes directly from Yasir Al-Rumayyan who enjoyed watching Bale at Real Madrid and would like a marquee name, but there’s not much too that and Newcastle have made no active approaches,” Jacobs said.
At the age of 32, Gareth Bale is a five-time champions league winner, stats show that the Whales international still has got much to offer in the field of play.
However, Newcastle United are not used to making such huge announcements in their Premier League history, but with a new owner on board, it remains a matter of time.
