English Premier League outfit Newcastle United are convinced they will be able to complete the transfer of Sven Botman from Lille in the transfer window.

The Times reports that the Magpies will be making another attempt, trying to lure the Dutch defender to St James’ Park after missing out on his signature in January.

Newcastle United will, however, deal with competition from Italian Serie A champions AC Milan for the services of Botman, who has become a hot cake in the transfer business.

Botman is tipped to rise above the ranks and rate better than Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk. Newcastle United officials have faith that their target will choose the Magpies over the Milan giants.

AC Milan won the 2021/2022 Italian top flight league, booking an automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League contests that will require some squad reinforcements in order to compete effectively.

On the other hand, Newcastle United’s wealthy owners will arguably try to lure the defender to their side as they embark on rebuilding the Premier League club.

Sven Botman is on international duty with the Dutch national team and is expected to make a decision on his future after the assignments.
