Reports from Italy reveal that English Premier League side Newcastle United want signing negotiations concerning the move of Kristjan Asllani from Empoli to start.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà has taken to Twitter to report that the Magpies have developed an interest in the midfielder, joining Italian Serie A champions AC Milan and Inter Milan in the chase for the 20-year-old Asllani.
However, it is also understood that Eddie Howe’s club have only carried out a survey monitoring the situation of their target in the Italian league.
Newcastle United have reportedly ‘asked for a meeting’ with the possibility of talks to be held next week as the Premier League outfit seeks to reinforce ahead of the new season that will commence early due to the FIFA World Cup tournament commencement in November.
On the other hand, AC Milan will also be keen on sealing all the perceived loopholes in their squad as they intend to defend their title next season. They could send him on loan after finalising the deal, which would keep him at San Siro upon his acquisition.
The Albanian is also said to prefer playing in Italy over other European leagues.
