Newcastle’s £30m offer rejected for ‘impressive’ star
Newcastle United keep being linked to exciting new signings as they look to build on their impressive 2022/23 Premier League season.
They have already secured a big signing in Sandro Tonali from AC Milan but they’re looking to continue their summer spree as they strengthen their squad.
Here are some of the latest transfer updates for the Magpies as the transfer gossip machine continues its frenzy.
Newcastle are in the mix to sign Tino Livramento from Southampton after their drop to the Championship last season, but they are facing a tough negotiation.
The Saints do not want to lose the right-back and have turned down an offer from their former Premier League rivals to land his signature.
According to talkSPORT, the Magpies have offered £30 million for Livramento but Southampton have rejected it, valuing him closer to the £50 million mark.
However, they really don’t want to sell the “impressive” defender, whose current contract runs until 2026.
Unwanted goalkeeper Karl Darlow is set to leave Newcastle this summer before his current contract expires next year.
He has attracted interest from Bournemouth but Leeds United have emerged as the ‘new favourites’ to strike a deal for the 32-year-old.
That’s according to NUFC Blog, who report that the recently relegated Whites are offering a lower wage for Darlow but can give him regular playing time with Illan Meslier likely to leave.
Of course, the lure of Premier League football with the Cherries is high but he risks being low in the priority list.
Newcastle have valued Darlow at £5 million but are willing to accept less in order to complete a sale and remove him from their current wage bill.
