Ole in

Lately, reports of Antonio Conte being open to take up the role of managing Manchester United have been making headlines, but now it seems that Ole will keep his job for the moment.

Despite the many external speculations, internally nothing has signaled that the Norwegian’s job is on the line and it is unclear whether contacts between the club and Conte have been made or not.

Despite the 5-0 loss at Old Trafford, Ole has made it clear that he has no intentions of resigning, and was even spotted signing autographs for fans and taking selfies with them after the match. The gaffer has revealed that Sunday was one of his worst days as Manchester United manager but his immediate focus is to bounce back.

When asked if he still thinks that he is the right man for the job, he had this to say.

“We’ve come too far as a group and we’re too close to give up now. I’ve heard nothing else [about my potential sacking]. This is the lowest I’ve been, but as I’ve said, I accept the responsibility.

I do believe in myself, I do believe that I am getting close to what I want with the club, I think what we’ve done, what I’ve seen, the development, of course, the results lately haven’t been good enough. But I’ve got to keep strong and I do believe in what we’ve been doing, the coaching staff and the players.”

Many fans have been filled with resentment after Sunday’s performance, which is just the tip of the ice berg. The club has walked away with only 1 point from their last 4 league games.

Ole now has a big task ahead, to prove that he is capable of getting the best out of his lucrative squad. United’s next 2 Premier League fixtures are against Tottenham and Manchester City.

Solksjaer oversaw training on Tuesday as they await the weekend in order to be back in action, after their early exit from the Carabao Cup.
