Eddie Howe is eager to get back to winning ways against Wolves after a run of three defeats in a row.

The Toons had gone nine Premier League games without a loss prior to those three defeats.

Good and bad news were delivered to the Newcastle United Head Coach and his players by Paul Merson.

“Eddie Howe and co. will comfortably maintain their Premier League status,” says Merson, who also predicts that NUFC will suffer their fourth straight loss after Friday night’s match against Wolves.

Even though any of the three possible outcomes are possible in tonight’s game, I have my doubts that Paul Merson’s prediction of a 2-1 Wolves victory away from home will come to fruition.

Except for the loss to Manchester City, Newcastle United has not conceded more than one goal in any of their last eight Premier League home games under Eddie Howe.

When compared to the other seven games, Newcastle has only allowed five goals in total, while scoring in each of them.

While speaking to Sportskeeda, Paul Merson said:

“This is a big game as Wolves are right back in the top-four race after Arsenal’s unexpected loss to Crystal Palace.

“For Newcastle United, it turned out to be a bit of a wake-up call for them against Tottenham – they got absolutely blown away.

“I fancy Wolves to win this one and make the race for a top-four spot more interesting.Eddie Howe and co will comfortably maintain their Premier League status, but they still have a long way to go to make themselves a force to be reckoned with.

“I fancy Wolves to win this one and make the race for a top-four spot more interesting.

“Prediction: Newcastle United 1-2 Wolves.”
