Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has made it clear that he has no intentions of staying at Old Trafford if first-team football will not be guaranteed.
It doesn’t look like the Belgian-born talent will ever have the chance to be a consistent starter for United, with Pereira only playing an important role for the first team in one season, the 19/20 one.
The versatile player has confirmed the notion in his interview with TNT Sports.
“I’m ready to play, I’m not a boy anymore. I’m a man ready to take responsibility”
“I’m sure that with playing time and continuity as a starter in my position, I can show what I’ve done on base, I can score more goals and give assists.”
“A player of my position needs the confidence to play and the freedom to be bold on the field.”
The 25-year-old Brazilian has been part of Solksjaer’s preseason campaign, crashing in a 25-yard volley during the draw with Brentford last week.
He said that goal not only gave him a moment of real joy but a feeling of “justice” in terms of his desire to be included more in Solskjaer’s.
Pereira was asked about his relationship with Solskjaer:
“I’ve always worked for the team. With him, I’ve played everywhere on the field and I’ve always done my best.”
“He’s known me for many years and knows very well where I can earn more. It’s up to him to give me the freedom to play in my position.”
Pereira confirmed he would like to play as a number 10, explaining:
“I’m a liaison midfielder, a 10 shirt. I like having the ball in my foot, building the team and having the freedom to create. This is my place on the field.”
Pereira has been on loan spells to Granada and Valencia during his nine and a half years with the Manchester giants, with the recent one being to Lazio last season where he started in five of his thirty-three appearances, making four assists and playing all across midfield and behind the striker.
It has recently emerged that Lazio had attempted to resign one-time Brazil international on loan but the Red Devils refused, valuing him at around £20 million.
