Newcastle United are reportedly planning a swoop for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella in the transfer window.
The Guardian have reported that the Magpies are among the Premier League clubs longing for the services of the Spanish talent.
The publication has also revealed that PIF have joined the race seeking to land Cucurella with former Premier League winners Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City plotting to sign the defender.
Brighton are said to be demanding the defender’s transfer fee in the region of £50m, but Manchester City are firm and only willing to pay £40m for Cucurella’s signature.
The 23-year-old left-wing back is rated among the rising overlapping defenders in the English top flight league. He will arguably add value to Eddie Howe’s defence line should he complete the move to St. James Park in the window.
With Kieran Trippier and Marc Cucurella covering the right and left sides of defence for Newcastle United, the home side’s forwards will arguably enjoy a steady supply of crosses from the flanks.
Both players are strong and creative, with an ability to create something from nowhere in the hour of need.
