Current Scottish Premier League leaders, Celtic, pulled off yet another convincing win as they eased past Championship side Raith Rovers in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup yesterday, beating them 4-0 on home soil.
After a sluggish first 45 minutes, Celtic displayed an unbeatable second half, but despite the comeback and win, coach Postecoglou doesn’t seem satisfied and instead prefers to keep pushing as he thinks his side can do better.
Asked by Emma Dodds whether his side had exceeded his set expectations, the Greek-Australian said his boys weren’t even close.
“Nowhere near my expectations,” Ange replied, “we still have a lot of work to do.”
The Bhoys have had an excellent 2022, with a perfect score in their last five league games, which saw them take and maintain the standings lead, and many would think that they’ll finally go easy. The 56-year old thinks otherwise, insisting on keeping or even bettering their standards from this point onwards.
Ange’s side, who aim to retake their Scottish League title from Rangers, will next go up at home against Norwegian top division side, Bodo Glimt, for a Europa Conference League clash on Thursday, before taking on 11th placed Dundee in the SPL on Sunday in must-win games if they’re to keep their European and domestic hopes alive.
