Everton started this season’s EPL campaign flying high as they took seven points out of a possible nine from their opening three games.

Strikers Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin were a huge part of those three games, the latter scoring in all. But the Toffees run hasn’t been as smooth since the two went out with injury, seeing the side get only seven other points from fifteen.

Though they have won some, Everton’s position isn’t steady, with their latest 1-0 loss at home against West Ham pushing them out of a European spot.

The performances indicate clearly how much Benitez’s side’s strike force is lacking, and he has come out to shed light on Richarlison’s and Calvert-Lewin’s condition.

“I think Richarlison is closer, Dominic will take longer…” Benitez disclosed to reporters after his side’s controversial defeat against West Ham.

Benitez further admitted that playing against a good team, you need to take whatever chances appear or “move on”, something that his side couldn’t do, perhaps due to lacking the best people who could do it.

Benitez relies on three summer signings (Rondon, Townsend, and Gray) who have been doing a good job, but it’s clearly not enough and Richarlison’s return will greatly boost the Blues’ winning chances.

If the 24-year-old Brazilian could make it back for Saturday’s game against Watford at home, perhaps Rafa’s side could overturn their season’s first home defeat with a convincing home win.
