Rafael Benitez wants Ross Barkley at Everton - Report

Everton and the Hammers are both willing to offer Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley a way out.

According to 90Min, West Ham manager David Moyes wants a reunion with his former Everton player if the Hammers are unable to sign Jesse Lingard.

That’s interesting, because Everton, who want to acquire Lingard, are now considering a Barkley return.

Barkley, 27, has failed to live up to his early promise and has returned to Chelsea after Aston Villa declined to make his loan deal permanent.

West Ham are thought to have made the initial move for Barkley by contacting him about a contract, although they are far from alone in the contest.

The Toffees let Barkley depart for Chelsea in January 2018, and fans weren’t pleased with the way he left, booing him when he returned over a year later.

Rafael Benitez wanted Barkley last summer when he returned to Newcastle, so it’s no surprise that he wants him again this time at Everton.

Barkley will almost certainly not play for Chelsea next season, and while a transfer to West Ham makes sense, a sensational return to Everton is also a possibility.
