Kemar Roofe faces a late fitness test as he missed Rangers training sessions on Thursday ahead of the May 18 Europa League final in Seville.
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed on Thursday that Roofe is currently not training with the Gers squad. The tactician is, however, hopeful that the forward returns for action before the fast approaching final day.
Roofe has been out nursing an injury since he was used during the Scottish Cup semi-final win over local rivals Celtic at Hampden Park.
“(Kemar) Roofe is not training with the team at the moment, but he is doing everything he can to be ready,” said Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
“Hopefully he can make some positive steps in the coming days,” he added.
Roofe has been playing a very important role for Rangers upfront this season, managing 16 goals in all competitions.
Rangers will arguably be in desperate need of Roofe’s services in the particular final against Frankfurt. The side will cherish lifting the Europa League after losing the league title to Celtic.
However, with time seemingly not on their side, Giovanni van Bronckhorst might be forced to tweak his squad a little in the striking force if the Jamaican international fails his late fitness test.
