Rangers battling four Premier League clubs in race to sign exciting winger
Rangers are interested in signing Bristol City talent Sam Bell but face a battle with a host of Premier League clubs.
The Gers have done most of the planned incoming business this summer and are now offloading players.
Fashion Sakala has gone and Glen Kamara may not be far behind, providing a healthy boost to the Rangers coffers.
Michael Beale may still fancy some late additions though and Rangers are now being linked with a Championship raid.
TEAMtalk report that Rangers are interested in signing midfielder Sam Bell from Bristol City.
It’s stated that a host of scouts watched Bell as Bristol City opened their season with a 1-1 draw against Preston North End.
Rangers are keen ‘admirers’ of Bell but Premier League quartet Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all interested.
Bristol City are considered likely to open new contract talks with Bell in the hope of keeping him at Ashton Gate.
Maybe this is one that Rangers will pursue in the final weeks of August, but it’s more likely that Bell will be viewed as a 2024 target.
Bell hails from Bristol and is actually the son of former Bristol City defender Micky Bell, who spent eight years with the Robins.
The younger Bell has come up in the Bristol City ranks and is now shining in the first team after loan spells with Clevedon Town, Yate Town and Grimsby Town.
Bell managed 29 appearances and six goals, showing that Alex Scott isn’t the only exciting talent in the Bristol City ranks.
The 21-year-old largely plays down the left flank but has also played down the right and even up front.
Bell opened his account for the season with a goal in last weekend’s game against Preston North End and seems to be a big talent.
Bell looks set to feature prominently for Bristol City this season and may well have a big future ahead of him.
Rangers will be keeping close tabs on him and will hope that he doesn’t quickly become out of reach like teammate Scott.
