According to Sacha Tavolieri, Rangers executives are traveling to Liege to finalize Nicolas Raskin’s January transfer after reaching a 4.5-year agreement.
The young Belgian has already signed a pre-contract agreement to transfer to Ibrox in the summer and had a physical last week in preparation for the move.
However, Rangers want to sign him this month in order to strengthen their team right away. According to journalist Tavolieri, club executives are currently en route to Belgium to finalize a deal.
“BREAKING We announced it on Thursday…Nicolas Raskin soon at Rangers FC!,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (24 January).
“Player agreement [tick]. 4 and a half year contract. Medical tests last week [tick].
“The Scottish leaders are coming to Liège to finalize the deal with RSCL in the coming hours.”
Rangers are taking the exact action that was required in this window to make a significant move and demonstrate their intent.
As soon as Todd Cantwell’s acquisition was finalized, the club was able to focus only on Raskin because they knew they had significant negotiating power.
Raskin will transfer to Ibrox for free in the summer, but the club is willing to pay a minor money to complete the deal right away. After being passed over by Liege, they would undoubtedly be open to receiving a fee now as well.
There is still one week left in the window, so there is time to complete the deal, but Beale would prefer to do it as soon as possible so he can add a second option to the side and begin working right away.
This one is winding down, and Rangers are certain to secure their target before the deadline. Things are improving.
