Rangers have launched their first approach for Hearts defender John Souttar, hoping to persuade him to choose Ibrox over English clubs.

Rangers have reportedly decided to make a bid and have begun conversations with Souttar about a transfer, according to the Glasgow Times.

Souttar, who is out of deal at the end of the campaign, can now talk to Hearts about a pre-contract arrangement to leave this summer.

Recently, relocating to England has looked to be a top objective. English teams interested in Souttar include Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest.

Rangers, on the other hand, have decided to join the party and have made their first attempt to sign Souttar.

Souttar, 25, has had a fantastic season with Hearts after overcoming three significant achilles problems.

Connor Goldson’s deal with Rangers expires at the end of the campaign, and he could be leaving.

Leon Balogun’s contract expires this summer, Jack Simpson’s Rangers future is uncertain, and Nikola Katic’s Rangers future is also uncertain.

The Gers are now trying to acquire Souttar, who Kyle Lafferty has described as “amazing.” Souttar can provide essential depth at a key position moving ahead.

Given the competition for Souttar’s signature, signing him won’t be simple, but the Rangers are at least trying.
