Rangers have been dealt a major blow today with the news that Alfredo Morelos will miss the Old Firm clash.

Columbia’s national team has summoned the in-form striker for World Cup qualifications, thus he will miss the rescheduled Old Firm match.

Joe Aribo, a vital midfielder for the Gers, is currently representing Nigeria at the AFCON.

Morelos was called up to the national team for the first time since the Copa America in the summer.

He will miss the game at Celtic Park due to Columbia’s double-header between Peru (28 January) and Argentina (1 February).

Morelos is also set to miss the match against Ross County, as well as the match against Livingston.

It’ll be fascinating to see how the champions handle without two of their finest players.

In the absence of the Colombian, Kemar Roofe has lately returned from injury and will most likely fill the job.

Rangers, however, are only four points clear of Celtic in the SPFL after a 1-1 tie against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday (18 January).
