Mohamed Salah has been an instrumental part of Liverpool’s strike force and the entire club as a whole for a while now.
The 29-year-old Egyptian comes in handy when Liverpool are experiencing a drought in goals, and is a big part of the thrill when the Reds rain goals down as they did against Watford on Saturday.
With his experience and the form he is in now, no team might want to lose him, especially not Liverpool. In a bid to extend his stay at Liverpool, which now runs until 2023, the Reds are reportedly in talks with Salah’s manager, who, according to The Mirror, landed in England this past weekend.
The reports state that Salah wants half a million sterling pounds a week, but Liverpool might be reluctant to part with the amount as it would drain their pockets. On one hand, there’s a player who is probably in the form of his life and one of the best in the world, while on the other hand, there’s the reality of his demand being too expensive to afford.
The Reds will most definitely negotiate a reduction in the Egyptian captain’s proposed wages, but whether they succeed or not might still depend on Salah, or what other teams are willing to offer.
Should a compromise not be reached, Liverpool will either sell Salah the soonest when he is still in high demand or let him boost their side for some time and sell him at a lower price. The worst-case would be if they hold on until the end of his contract and release him on a free transfer.
However, everything is still speculative, and the world will have to wait to see what the future of the 2017 and 2018 CAF Player of the Year at Anfield will be.
