Leeds United were on top of their game last season after promotion, but numerous injuries have marred their efforts this season and they now lie in 15th place, six positions worse than last campaign.

In their December clash against Brentford, the Whites lost Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper to hamstring injuries, leaving a troubled midfield and defense, respectively.

Though there were available step-ins for Phillips in Robin Koch and Adam Forshaw, the two could barely keep up, which took a toll on Leeds’ subsequent performances.

However, the choppy waters may not last as long as fans had hoped, as Phillips, who was supposed to return in March, appears to be getting ready to line up.

In his tweet yesterday, the 26-year old England international revealed that he and Cooper are back in training.

“Can you tell we’re happy to be back on the grass?” he teased in the post, which was accompanied by a photo of the two visibly in high spirits.
