Chelsea’s season ended in worry following exits by the likes of Rudiger and Christensen.
Over the past few weeks, though, the Blues could be considered the biggest winners this summer in terms of notable signings, including England international Raheem Sterling.
But the new owner, Todd Boehly, is clearly not done bringing in more talent, recently almost finalising a deal to rope in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly for nearly 34 million pounds.
Awaiting confirmation of the Senegalese’s move to Stamford Bridge, there are reports of other defenders being eyed by Chelsea, among them PSG’s Kimpembe.
Various sources, among them Mercato, The Athletic, and The Independent, reported Chelsea’s move for Kimpembe, who is valued at at least 50 million sterling pounds (according to The Independent).
It’s rumoured that the Frenchman, who has just under two years left with PSG, prefers to play in England should he leave the League 1 champions.
If the Blues are willing to part with the requested amount, Kimpembe, who is also eyed by Juventus as a replacement for de Ligt, will be Chelsea’s most expensive acquisition this summer so far.
The EPL side probably has an edge over Juventus seeing as both his (Kimpembe’s) former coach (Tuchel) and teammate (Thiago Silva) are at Stamford Bridge.
Still, it’s not the defender’s decision to make entirely and Chelsea must satisfy PSG’s demands or outbid Juventus if they want the French international at Stamford Bridge.
