Arsenal’s busy summer transfer window showed fruits throughout the preseason friend matches, and this only extended with their league opener, a convincing win over Crystal Palace on Friday (August 5th).
Despite the obvious general improvement though, the Gunners seem determined to be just as busy for this coming month prior to the window closure, with Arteta set on signing a right winger.
Several names have made the list of Arsenal interests, among them Cody Gakpo, Pedro Neto, and others, but the latest, reportedly believed to be Arteta’s last (forward) signing, is Bayer Leverkusen’s Mousa Diaby.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal’s majority owner, Stan Kroenke, has approved Arteta’s pursuit of the France international, who’s also wanted by Newcastle United (Sky Sport).
The 23-year-old, whom the Gunners allegedly decided on before their season opener, was priced at 60 million pounds by CIES, which could prove problematic given how much the London side has already spent this period.
But his goal prowess, which contributed to 31 goals (17 goals and 14 assists) for the Bundesliga side last season, could be too good an attraction for Arsenal to give up, so they’ll definitely make a bid.
Diaby has made it clear that he “will play for Bayern Leverkusen again next season”, a statement proved true by his appearance against Dortmund over the weekend.
With no bid so far made by the English side, it’s almost unlikely that Mousa will move to the Emirates this season, but there’s a month to go and nothing is certain.
