Everton striker Richarlison could be handed a three-match ban by the Premier League after throwing a flare in a match against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Brazilian forward scored the all-important winning goal that saw Frank Lampard’s side sink the Blues 1-0 at Goodison Park, reviving survival hopes in the league.
In the process of celebrating the vital goal, Richarlison appeared to have picked up a flare from the pitch and threw it towards the stands.
Taking to Twitter, ESPN’s Dale Johson predicted that consequences could await Richarlison after the action.
“Will Richarlison face a three-match ban? Possibly. Much may depend upon where he threw it. Did it land on the fans or did he throw it out of the stadium? I suspect it didn’t land in the fans, so he might escape with a fine or censure.” He wrote.
Everton will be seeking to seal their survival dreams with a tricky trip to Leicester on Sunday. The Merseyside club will then take on Watford in midweek before inviting Brentford on May 15.
