Brighton and Hove Albion were defeated 2-1 by Howe’s side on Saturday at St James’s Park, extending their Premier League unbeaten streak to eight matches.
Ryan Fraser was taken out during the match and will be checked ahead of Thursday night’s clash with Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Asked about Fraser, head coach Howe said:
“I think there’s a few boys in the dressing room nursing little things today. You saw a few of them stretching on the pitch.
“It was a big physical effort. There were a few players right on the edge. Hopefully, Ryan will be OK.”
With a three-game away trip in eight days, Howe brought his players in yesterday to begin preparations.
