West Ham United are reportedly on the last stages of sealing  a deal for central defender  Nayef Aguerd from Rennes at a slashed  fee with his medical scheduled for this week.

It is also said the Hammers are finalising on personal terms agreement with the player. It has further been suggested that West Ham are paying £20 million for Aguerd.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has gone ahead to reveal that everything is proceeding perfectly and a deal involving the two parties is imminent.

With David Moyes seeking to strengthen his central defense, the Moroccan could have come at the right time when the London outfit are trying to make a name in European football.

Initially, it was suggested that the fee the Hammers had agreed to pay Rennes for Aguerd was £34 million, but it does not appear to have happened as earlier stated.

The North African defender has already emerged as an ideal long-term replacement for defender Angelo Ogbonna, who is ageing.

The last season’s UEFA Europa League semi-finalists, West Ham United, are actually only set to pay £20 million for Aguerd.

The Premier League club were believed to be paying an upward fee of £30 million for the 26-year-old centre-back, an amount that was seen as decent in regards to Aguerd’s market valuation.
