The Legend? Lewis Hamilton doesn’t feel like one

Unlike many, if not most, would think, British F1 drivers don’t feel they are legends, despite breaking countless records in the sport. “I don’t feel like I am a legend. I’m still involved, “said Hamilton to Sky Italia.

His victories, especially in the last two or three seasons, would have seemed like a piece of cake from a bystander’s point of view, but that couldn’t be far from true. “I try to be the best every weekend. It is never easy. I always try to refine and be creative with the setup of the car, every weekend, every race, and every season, ” Hamilton admits, meaning he has to work just as hard as other drivers, perhaps harder.

Do you think he has had all the success and every dream of his has been fulfilled? Think again. The 2020 F1 champion still has unfulfilled dreams as he sets new each time and admitted he hasn’t managed to realize them all. “Every year I make a list of things I want to achieve. Maybe I’ve tried ten and got two. Or just one.”

As much as he wants to have better performances and break more records, the defending champion doesn’t think F1 is as inclusive and diverse as it should be. “I wish all teams were a part of it. We live in a world where many people are unaware of what is happening and other people think that if something doesn’t concern you, you don’t have to do anything, “Hamilton lamented, stressing that he dreams engineers and other people should be involved.

In a season where he would go top in all-time world titles won if he won the season title, the British driver accepts that others deserve to be heard and appreciated too, even by those not involved in what they do. “It is crazy to hear certain news, such as restriction of women’s rights to abortion in the USA,” he stated, insisting on supporting change in any field.

He might be thought of as a legend, but Lewis Hamilton seemingly only sees himself as a normal person that has to fight and race for what he, and others (from whichever field), believe in.
